It really is. I'm supposed to meet the builder tomorrow since we will be down in Chattanooga for the final Snake Creek Gap race. Not sure how I'll spec out the cyclocross bike, but I'm sure it will look almost too nice to race.

It's a great frame. Light, springy, good feedback. I thought about going SS, but since I'm so new to the mtb world I decided to go fully geared. Other than serious chainsuck on a long, muddy race last week (which a SS setup would have avoided), I've been very happy with the SRAM X-9 group.

Nice! I put the deposit down on a 15" b-side frame last week, should arrive this week. I'll be riding on snow for a while up here in the snow belt of central new york, but I can't wait! Building mine single speed, rigid fork, with neo-moto 2.3s.

Cheers, -Doug

John likes.

That's why I try to do both (like you are obviously doing) to work both systems. There is definitely more efficiency at lower cadences which is great for shorter events. But on longer events muscle fatigue sets in. So it's good to be able to draw on that aerobic system at higher power levels. I have trouble finding the correct balance sometimes.

Half sad, half glad I missed this ride. On the sad side, I spent 2 hours on the trainer that morning and this kind of thing builds camaraderie. On the glad part, I really hate getting wet. Add cold to wet I really really hate it :D.

Anyway, daughter's basketball season will be over at the end of February. So hopefully starting in March I'll be able to join you guys for a team ride here and there!
