Clingman’s Dome Ride

Here’s the elevation profile for the ride I am planning for Friday afternoon.

Starting elevation around 1450 feet, ending elevation 6400 feet. Basically 20 miles of straight climbing, and 5000 feet of vertical gain.

Success!

I can now call myself a veteran of the 3 State 3 Mountain Challenge Century. This was an amazing ride, in far from optimal conditions, and I can’t wait for next year (how easy we forget the difficult parts).

Biting off more than you can chew

I may have done exactly this.
I can’t back out. Money has been paid. Registration forms filled out.
I signed up for the 3 State 3 Mountain Century in Chattanoooga on May 2nd. This ride covers 100 miles (hence the name Century) and crosses three mountains in the process.
